SIDNEY – Just above Murphy’s Craftbar + Kitchen in downtown Sidney, a physical therapy office is helping women stay healthy throughout every part of their lives.

Holistically Well Physical Therapy, started by Dr. Kayla Borchers, is not a typical physical therapy clinic; instead, they offer a boutique private practice setting with a unique approach to care. In place of solely focusing on recovery after an injury or surgery, they emphasize proactive and preventative treatment, primarily for women.

Their focus is on holistic women’s health across the lifespan, from preconception planning and fertility, pregnancy health and postpartum healing, to treating active pain points such as sciatica and low back, hip, pelvic, neck, wrist or shoulder pain, urinary leakage or headaches.

“There is so much misinformation on how to support your body holistically into and through motherhood while at the same time respecting modern medicine. This is where Holistically Well Physical Therapy comes in,” Borchers said.

The practice is out of network with insurance, which allows them to be a direct access provider, meaning patients do not need a referral to schedule an appointment. The practice provides Superbills, which allows patients to submit for reimbursement following a visit. This also keeps visit rates lower than if insurance were to be billed directly.

Recently, another physical therapist, Dr. Lauren Klosterman, joined the practice. Borchers and Klosterman are able to work with patients one-on-one during their session to provide boutique care, which means they provide individualized care without an overlap between patients so patients can have more time to share their stories with the doctors.

“Our office feels more like a holistic spa than a physical therapy gym,” Borchers said.

Borchers’ office provides physical therapy using advanced teaching in both orthopedic and pelvic health.

“We utilize Pilates-based therapeutic exercises, breath work, Integrative Dry Needling, cupping, manual therapy and neuromuscular re-education to help our patients ease pain points, prevent and treat pain or incontinence, prepare for childbirth, recover postpartum, and beyond,” she said.

Borchers graduated from Russia High School, then received her bachelor’s of science and doctorate of physical therapy degrees from The Ohio State University. She worked for sports medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center prior to opening a holistic physical therapy private practice in Columbus. Recently, Borchers and her husband moved back to their hometown in Shelby County to be closer to family.
